Hand Spinning Workshops for Beginners

​

Have you ever watched a hand spinner happily spinning soft wool into gorgeous yarns and wanted to give it a go, or felt that your knitting, crochet or weaving could be even more creative if you could spin your own yarns? Then this workshop is for you. If you have spun before and want to re-visit a forgotten skill then here is the chance to fulfil it straight away.

Our one day spinning workshops are relaxed and fun and are aimed at beginners but also suitable as a refresher. Covers all aspects of this enchanting and addictive skill.

2 Day Hand Spinning Workshop

​

Why not take some valuable 'me time' to learn a new skill. The workshop will take place in our spinning barn on our smallholding in Norfolk, complete with a cosy log burner to ensure a relaxing couple of days. You will be able to meet our gorgeous Rare Breed sheep who will kindly be providing some of your wool to work with on the day.

This 2 day workshop is aimed at beginner spinners but is equally suited to those looking for a refresher. You will learn the whole process from preparation to spinning to creating your very own skeins of yarn to take home. There will be a general programme to work to however this can be adapted depending on the needs of those attending. Crafts are just not meant to be prescriptive!

Hand Spinning Success Online Course

​

This step-by-step but comprehensive course will guide you through every step of the way to ensure your hand spinning success. You will also receive 1:1 tutor support if needed to fully support your learning. It covers the basics of this engaging craft which will enable you to create a whole range of crafts in the future.

2 Day Workshop Exploring Worsted and Woollen Spinning

​

If you are a hand spinner who like many, is a little unclear on the difference between worsted and woollen spinning then this two day workshop is for you. It has been designed to clarify and explore the differences between worsted and woollen spinning spending a full day on each.

You will have the opportunity to card and comb a variety of fleeces including our very own North Ronaldsay and Icelandic, to determine the most appropriate way of processing each. By the end of the workshop you will have at least two fabulous skeins of yarn to take home to knit, crochet or just admire!

1:1 Workshops

​

All of our workshops are available on a 1:1 basis if preferred. This is a popular option if you have a specific area of spinning you would like to concentrate on as it offers my undivided attention or if you are just looking forward to some ‘me time’. Additionally in these uncertain times individuals are choosing this option for greater peace of mind. Please be assured however that a full COVID risk assessment is in place.

An additional charge of £45 per day is made for this option. Do please get in touch to discuss your chosen workshop availability.
