Service Description

Step into the wonderful world of natural dyeing and discover the incredible range of colours that can be created from the plants growing all around us. From vibrant flowers and leafy garden treasures to the hidden gems of our local hedgerows, you'll learn how nature can transform yarn into beautiful, unique shades that simply can't be replicated with synthetic dyes. Together we'll explore a selection of seasonal plants, discussing when to gather them, how to harvest responsibly, and which parts of each plant produce the best colour. Depending on the time of year, we may work with flowers, leaves, seed heads, berries, bark and other natural materials, making every workshop a little different and a true reflection of the season. During the day you'll discover the secrets of preparing fibres for dyeing, learn about mordants and why they matter, and watch as simple ingredients create an astonishing palette of yellows, golds, greens, pinks, peaches, soft browns and rich earthy tones. One of the greatest joys of natural dyeing is that every skein is completely unique—no two results are ever exactly the same. This relaxed, hands-on workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced fibre enthusiasts who would like to add another skill to their creative toolbox. By the end of the day you'll have dyed your own beautiful yarn samples to take home, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue experimenting in your own garden. Whether you're a spinner, knitter, crocheter, weaver or simply someone who loves working with natural materials, this inspiring workshop will help you see your garden and countryside in a completely new way. Workshop includes: Guided introduction to natural dyeing techniques Seasonal garden and hedgerow plants to explore Preparing fibre and understanding mordants Hands-on dyeing of yarn samples Tips for foraging responsibly and sustainably All materials, fibres and refreshments provided Come and experience the magic of turning ordinary plants into extraordinary colours—you'll never look at a flower border or country walk in quite the same way again.
