E Spinner Have a Go

Electric spinning wheels have become so popular in recent years and with good reason. They are portable, take up very little space yet still enable you to spin a good quantity of gorgeous yarns. They can also be a very good option if for whatever reason a spinner is not able to treadle a 'normal' spinning wheel. So there really is a wheel for every spinner in every situation. I often hear individuals say that they don't like the E spinners as they are not traditional but what does that actually mean I wonder? I like to see it as just another way to spin that fits a variety of situations and also as progress in our spinning world. Mankind started spinning with a stick and a stone probably, anything to insert twist into fibres. This progressed to spindles and then to a horizontal layout of wheels, which in themselves have had many variations over the years; think of the Great Wheel which changed to what we now consider to be a more traditional sit-at and treadle type of wheel. And yes I have them all! I was quite determined that I didn't want or need an E Spinner but finally gave in and tried the Nano from Dreaming Robots. I have to say that I was immediately hooked. As I often spin very fine yarns it's small stature wasn't a draw back and I could still spin a decent amount of yarn. However, it got me thinking about the larger versions too to accommodate a broader range of yarns so I chose the EEW 6 again from Dreaming Robots. And I have to say that the EEW6 has become my go-to wheel when I am spinning out and about or even just with my feet up on the sofa in the evening if I fancy a more relaxed style of spinning So if you are thinking about investing in an E Spinner or you already have one and need some guidance on how to get the best possible yarns with one then why not pop along for a morning or evening and test drive mine. There are many other E spinners on the market so your choice does not have to be limited to the Dreaming Robots range but these will certainly tempt you into the world of E spinning.

We value your booking but understand that sometimes things can change. In such circumstances we ask that you contact us at least 7 days prior to the workshop date in order that the date can be offered to other prospective attendees. We shall be happy to re-schedule your workshop for a more suitable date. In the event of you not being able to attend or re-schedule your workshop up to 7 days before the event a full refund will be issued. Any cancellations within the 7 days prior to the workshop date will not receive a refund.
