About the Event

NOTE: Due to the ongoing COVID 19  situation places are limited to just TWO per workshop to enable social distancing. You will receive further guidance on the precautions we are taking to ensure everybody's health and comfort at the time of booking, however, if you have any questions prior to booking do please get in touch to ask.   For BOOKING information see below.

Our  one and two day hand spinning workshops are relaxed and fun and are aimed at beginners but also suitable as a refresher covering all aspects of this enchanting and addictive craft. Or for the more experienced spinner you may prefer to spend a day or two perfecting your skills. This may be discovering the differences between woollen and worsted yarns,  spinning a super-fine lace weight yarn, learning how to process a range of fleeces or blending fibres to create unique yarns. If you have a specific spinning need please feel free to ask as I am happy to arrange a day supporting you in whatever way you need.

Workshops are held in the tranquil Norfolk countryside on our smallholding where you can meet our delightful flock of rare breed North Ronaldsay sheep and Icelandic sheep whose wool you will be spinning on the day.

You will learn what to look for when choosing a good fleece for spinning. You will learn the arts of carding, spinning and plying, using the fleece from our own flock, and will make your very own skein of yarn to take home. I am more than happy for students to photograph or video aspects of the workshop to remind them at home or just to impress friends and family with! Course notes are also provided.

Workshops can be held for individual or group tuition with a maximum of just two students (during covid restrictions)  to ensure lots of 1:1 tuition.  The day is very relaxed and informal. Why not take a look at our recent reviews to see what other customers have said about their workshop experiences.

Theresa is a qualified trainer and assessor in the Life Long Learning sector but far more importantly gets tremendous satisfaction from simply passing on these skills to others.

All equipment is available for you to use or you may bring your own if you prefer. Sufficient fibre is supplied to complete your projects on the day.

Refreshments of tea, coffee, fruit teas, home baked cakes and biscuits are provided all day but please bring your own packed lunch. Dietary information will be gathered before your workshop.

Fleeces, ready carded fibres and equipment are available to buy on the day or from our online shop so you can continue your spinning as soon as you get home.

Travel links are good from most major routes including by rail and taxi.

We look forward to welcoming you soon. Theresa & James

How To Book. As COVID restrictions are now reducing I am excited to be working again and I am able to offer lots of  workshop dates. Specific dates are not advertised as I prefer to be as  flexible as possible. Please contact me to discuss your preferred workshop choice and possible dates. If you have specific dates in mind I shall do my very best to accommodate them.

Once a date has been agreed you will receive a booking form which gives you all of the information you will need before the day and which tells me all I need to know to know about you to make your day as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible.
