About the Event
The method of hand spinning a worsted yarn produces the most beautiful durable, sleek and drapey yarn form the most exquisite long wools being suitable for harder wearing garments such as socks, or even as warp threads on a weaving loom. During this workshop you will explore a variety of wools most suited to this style of spinning. You will have the opportunity to use a range of wool combs including English Wool Combs to prepare your fibres into lustrous sliver before spinning to perfection. This workshop is invaluable if you are considering undertaking the AGWSD Hand Spinning Certificate ensuring you have a thorough understanding of the process and that you feel confident to produce a worsted yarn.
As this is a special event I shall provide refreshments and a light vegetarian lunch too so all you need to do is enjoy your day.
Note: Our English Longdraw workshop teaches you haow to make the exact opposite of worsted yarns ie soft, lofty and insultating yarns from short squishy fibres. If you would also like to take the English Longdraw Workshop to really broaden your hand spinning repertoire why not book on our two day event and receive a discount.
