About the Event
Knowing how to prepare a fleece for hand spinning can be quite daunting sometimes. So why not spend a day exploring the properties of a range of gorgeous fleeces from short and fluffy to long and lustrous, all sourced locally, and learn the techniques needed to prepare them. You will use a range of tools including carders, flick carders, a variety of combs, a drum carder and wool picker.
I shall have a range of raw fleeces available to discuss and you are welcome to bring a fleece of your own for advice (please ensure it is in a generally clean state). Hand washing facilities, antibacterial gel and disposable gloves & aprons will all be available. A tetanus vaccination would be an additional precaution if you have not had one previously. Please discuss this with your GP if appropriate.
Refreshments & a light vegetarian lunch will be included. Dietary information will be gathered at the time of your booking. Most of the event will take place outdoors or under a gazebo so please dress accordingly. I suggest layers, a rain coat & sunscreen (this is British summer after all!) suitable footwear for outdoors and for spinning.
COST £85 per person. Please email to register info@thespinningbarn.co.uk
