About the Event

British wool must be celebrated and there is so much to choose from, so join me for one of my favourite workshops of the summer months programme. If you are confused about just how to skirt, scour or prepare your fleeces then this workshop mustn't be missed.

We shall explore a wide range of fleeces including longwools, down breeds and everything in between to ensure that you understand the properties of each fleece and the best use for each one. Although all fleeces are provided you are welcome to bring your own for discussion.

You will have the opportunity to try all aspects of sorting and washing a fleece before learning the relevant carding and combing techniques needed for the variety of fibres available to us.

All equipment is provided but if you have any of your own then you are welcome to bring it to use (in good working order please).

Refreshments are provided including home-made cakes, biscuits, fresh fruit and beverages but you will need to bring a packed lunch please. A refrigerator is available.

What to wear: This workshop will be held partly outdoors under a gazebo when we explore the range of fleeces. Please dress according to the weather. Layers are suggested and waterproof footwear for outdoors. Feel free to bring your slippers to change into!

I look forward to welcoming you soon.
