Have you bought a fleece at a fibre festival, been given one by a friend, or perhaps sheared a sheep of your own – and now you’re wondering what on earth to do with it?

Perhaps you know the breed. Perhaps you don’t. Perhaps you suspect it is a mixture of breeds. Don’t let that put you off!

In this hands-on workshop, your fleece is the star of the show.

Bring along the fleece that has been puzzling you and we’ll spend the day getting to know it. By examining the wool in front of us, we can learn a great deal about its characteristics – even when we don’t know exactly what breed the sheep was.

We’ll look closely at the staple length, crimp, handle, lustre, density and condition of the wool and consider what these characteristics are telling us. From there, we’ll explore how your particular fleece might…
